1. Our company uses a VPN protocol which does not appear to be supported on the iphone. For now I won't be able to get to my corporate email outside the building or to my intranet website.
2. They're a bit weird about security here. Our wireless internet has a 128-bit hex password and a non-broadcast SSID. My macbook DOES automatically find the network each time I turn it on here. I've added it in the list of trusted networks and moved it to the top of the list. The iPhone can connect to that network, but any time it goes to sleep it loses that connection and I have to re-enter the ssid and a very long HEX password (which is not easy to do on an iphone). Of course this prompted me to open up a security hole and share my 8-core's internet over airport in a way that the iphone can easily jump back on.
It would be nice to be able to see the list of trusted networks like you can on a mac. Then I could prioritize this network and maybe fix the falling-asleep-losing-the-network thing.
3. We also have exchange server mail here - so IT is going to turn on IMAP or whatever to make it work. I think fairly soon there will be more and more people here with iphones. People who have never talked to me before came up and wanted to see it.
4. It would really be nice to be able to email a website - oh nevermind.. i just found that. OK.. then, to be able to email a map location to someone.
5. Gotta be able to take a photo that somone emailed to you and save it in your pictures, use it as wallpaper, etc. I also want to be able to click ANY photo in safari and use it for stuff like that. By the way - You can do this with real os x and real safari so the limitation shouldn't be a legal issue.
I think the limitation has to do with how much development time they had. I also believe that internally they're storing images a specific way - so an image off the web would have to be converted for use inside the iphone.. and possibly would need to be resized.
6. Keyboard entry is so fast it's amazing. Kudos to Apple! Having said that. Toss a button in there to be able to switch to the different keyboards. Because when entering an email address for example, I'd love to have that .com button. Also on the main keyboard take some space away from the spacebar and throw in a period - the most used punctuation. A hex keyboard should pop up when entering in WEP passwords. And of course typing in landscape - more stuff in landscape. I KNOW.. all this stuff will come later with future software updates. Don't get me wrong.. we love this thing.
6. I'm sure apple already knows this. But since this is "multi-touch" there should be a way to hold down a "select" button with your left thumb while dragging across words with a finger to select them. Then cut and paste is easy as adding it to an existing icon.

I most miss cut and paste. I'd like three tiny icons on every screen where you can select text. C - X - P. Actually on screens like here i want to be able to select text.

badweasel you can type a period very quickly if you just push the punctuation button and hold it down, then slide to period and then lift, keybaord will snap back to qwerty... couldn't be much faster... you can do this whtih any number or punctuation on the 2nd keyset, you don't have turn the mode on, you can hold it on and when you release, it will go away.
